A Multi-Coloured Black Sea Bass

A Multi-Coloured Black Sea Bass
9" x 12" acrylic on canvas  SOLD
Fish make wonderful subjects to paint. Here is my version of a black sea bass. Though beautiful, I thought he needed a bit more colour. Look for fish paintings in the future.

More Garlic

More Garlic
9" x 12"  acrylic on canvas  $85

What can I say - I really like the taste of garlic, cook with it a lot, and think it makes a great still life subject. This is the third of four small paintings featuring allium sativum, aka garlic, a species in the onion genus.

Purple Stripe Garlic

Purple Striped Garlic
12" x 9"  acrylic on canvas
Another in what may become my French Garlic series. I think I may have to buy some of these garlic bulbs again, but will have to find a source closer (then Provence) to home, next time.

French Garlic

French Garlic
10" x 10"  acrylic on canvas  $85
I love garlic and add it to almost everything I cook. When I saw this big beautiful purple stripe garlic at a market in Provence last summer I had to buy it, thinking it would make a wonderful still life subject. I took many  photos and have had fun painting from them over the last few days.

Purple Tulips

Purple Tulips
10" x 10"  acrylic on canvas
This is for sale - contact me for price if interested.
While thinking about ways to use my recent figure drawings (see last two posts) in another art work, I have been painting some small still lifes - like this one. I love tulips at every stage of their blossom life, but particularly this one because they look so extreme. The originals were a lovely pink. When it came to painting them I felt that a colour boost was in order. There are purple tulips, aren't there?

More Figure Studies - More Ideas

Some more figure drawings. I am thinking about what to do with them. Add colour using pencil crayon? ink? collage paper? mixed up the media? or leave them alone? Or re-draw onto canvas and paint? Or do a series of drawings, simplifying and abstracting each one? Or combine several of these poses into one drawing and abstract further? So many possibilities to consider.
